Rick Levine

Entertainment Management

Rick Levine, president of ICEBOX Music, is a singer/songwriter, guitarist and music industry professional, writing, performing and living all aspects of music for over 25 years. Rick’s career in music started on the Jersey Shore in the mid-eighties with a stint as Promotions Director, Account Executive and DJ for WHTG AM/FM, broadcasting to the Manhattan market.After moving to Toronto in the early 1990’s, Rick started performing as a solo artist at some of the famed downtown nightspots.
 
In 1997 Rick had a pioneering role on Canada's first Internet radio station, producing, creating, scripting, booking guests, promoting and hosting the Internet entertainment program, “Ricko Talks to the World.” Rick teamed up with Mark Freemanof Night Owl in 1998, to form the acoustic guitar based band, Fridge Magnets. Over nearly 15 years they have given close to 350 performances including the Canadian Film Centre, the McMichael Gallery in Kleinburg and Breakfast Television. 
 
Levine established ICEBOX Music in 2000 to manage the band’s business, handling music production, bookings, artist management, contract negotiations, CD release concerts, promotion, public relations, marketing, radio tracking, merchandising and publishing. He negotiated exclusive CD distribution with GTA Chapters/Indigo stores. ICEBOX began publishing services in 2005, acquiring and marketing music catalogues of 60 Canadian indie artists and publishers for worldwide music licensing in all forms of media, collaborating with music supervisors, film and TV producers, production and post-production houses on three continents for music placement. In 2008, ICEBOX added a special events production division to provide event management services to live events. Events include Parliamentary reception in Ottawa, IMPACT National Convention on Entrepreneurship, Mobilicity Cellular Phone service and retail outlet launch, Strut For The Cure fashion show fundraiser and The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada’s MS Walk.
 
Currently, Levine hosts and produces the radio show “Inside The ICEBOX” on CIWS, 102.7 FM and www.whistleradio.ca, featuring interviews and music with Canadian emerging artists.
