Under the provisions of section 4 of the College Education Regulations concerning the conditions of admission, a person who has received instruction considered sufficient by the college and meets any of the following conditions may be admitted to a program of studies leading to an Attestation of College Studies:
  1. The person holds a Secondary School Vocational Diploma.
  2. The person has interrupted his or her full-time studies or pursued full-time postsecondary studies for at least 2 consecutive terms or 1 school year;
  3. The person is covered by an agreement entered into between the college and an employer or by a government program of studies;
  4. The person has interrupted his or her full-time studies for one term and pursued full-time postsecondary studies for one term; or

Specific admission criteria for an ACS/AEC

A person applying for an ACS/AEC program must have sufficient written and spoken proficiency in the language of instruction. A person who has studied outside of Quebec must provide the result of a proficiency test for the language of instruction.

For programs where the language of instruction of English, the language proficiency tests accepted are:
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS): 5.5
    • IELTS for Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan: 6.0 with 1 Band 5.5

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) IBT: 55
  • Cambridge English Language Assessment: 162
  • Canadian Academic English Language (CAEL): 40
  • PTE Academic: 36
  • Duolingo: 105 for students from South Asia (India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Nepal, and Pakistan) and 95 for all other countries
For programs where the language of instruction is French, the following standardized tests are accepted:
  • Diplôme approfondi de langue française/Diplôme d’études en langue française (DELF)/(DALF): Levels B1
  • Test d’Évaluation du français adapte pour le Québec (TEFaQ): Levels B1
  • Test de connaissance du français pour le Québec (TCFQ): Levels B1

  1. Complete application form and provide required documents
  2. Pay the non refundable admission fee (CAD $50) and registration fee (CAD $200), total CAD $250
  3. Once requirements are met and accepted, Trebas Institute will issue a Letter of Admission (LOA)
  4. Student must obtain a Quebec Acceptance Certificate /Certificat d'Acceptation du Quebec (CAQ)*
  5. Student must apply for a Study Permit (Canada)
  6. Student can apply for a work Permit (Canada)
  7. Student must obtain an health and hospitalization insurance
  8. Enroll and start classes!

All applications for admission must be accompanied by the following documents:

  • Completed application form
  • Non-refundable application fee of $50.00 and Admission fee of $200.00 ($250.00)
  • Valid Passport
  • Birth certificate (certified copy)
  • Most recent academic transcript or diploma
    • Any official documents issued outside Quebec must be a certified copy or the original
    • Documents written in a language other than English or French must be accompanied by an official translation

Obtaining the necessary authorizations

To study at Trebas Institute Quebec Inc., you must have: a passport, a study permit and, if necessary, a temporary resident visa and transit visa.

For the Montreal Campus only you must apply for a CAQ (Acceptance Certificate of Quebec) before a study permit.

These documents must be presented to Trebas Institute before the start of the program.

Consider the processing time

It’s important to have all the necessary documents at-hand prior to your departure to Canada as the processing time can be lengthy. The processing time for a CAQ is 3-5 weeks, excluding postal delays, if your application is complete (including all completed forms and supporting documentation)

Trebas Institute Quebec Inc. and Trebas Institute Ontario Inc. are committed to ensuring our students succeed during these unprecedented times, we are therefore pleased to announce our Guaranteed Refund Policy*.

Students who commenced a program online after applying for their study permit with IRCC and receive a visa refusal will now be eligible for a full refund if they submit their visa refusal letter within five (5) business days of receipt. The refund will exclude the $250 administration fee.

*Terms & Conditions

  • The student must have submitted a complete study permit application with IRCC before the commencement of the program of study Trebas Institute Quebec Inc. or Trebas Institute Ontario Inc.'s DLI and paid the required fees.
  • The student did not put their studies on hold, postpone their program, or cancel their program after it started, or other reasons not related to visa refusal.
  • The student received a visa refusal and provided the refusal letter within 5 business days of the refusal date or within a reasonable time.
  • Students who do not meet the above requirements will be charged for the courses taken on a prorated basis according to Trebas Institute Quebec Inc. or Trebas Institute Ontario Inc.’s regular refund policy.

If you are a certified Trebas Institute partner and are submitting a student application, log in to our Agent Portal.

 

We will need the following documents from you:

  • Application for Enrolment
  • Birth certificate
  • Valid passport
  • Completion of the Wonderlic Basic Skills assessment in English and Math.

(We will need the name, title and contacts of an educator or official who will monitor you during these tests. We will then send them a copy of each exam for you to complete – this must then be sent back to us.)

  • A portfolio, or several samples of work in your chosen field. If you have no prior experiences or do not have access to examples, we ask for a 500-word essay/letter of intent detailing your accomplishments, your future goals and objectives.

Once you complete all admission requirements, you must contact the Canadian consulate in your city to apply for a student visa that is valid for the entirety of your study period. The processing time of an application for a study permit can vary from one Canadian visa office to another and depends on whether or not you need to undergo a medical examination.

Once accepted, international students are required to pay 25% of the total tuition at registration.

Coming to Ontario as an international student is a four-step process and you must apply to and be accepted by Trebas Institute.

Step 1: Connect with us 

The first step is to connect with one of our admissions advisors by phone, email, text, or completing the online application form. The admissions advisor will arrange a telephone call or a virtual meeting - whichever is more convenient. 

Step 2: Phone/virtual interview 

Now it’s time for you to get serious and raise all those questions you have which the admissions advisor will answer. In addition, he/she will review your academic background and discuss your career goals and interests, as well as your options and eligibility as a student at Trebas.  

Step 3: Deposit 

Students are required to pay a 25% deposit or $2,500 CAD - whichever is less - towards their tuition. An acceptance letter will also be provided so you can start the student visa application process.

Step 4: Apply for study permit

Once accepted in a program of study longer than six months, you must apply for a study permit with the government of Canada. The processing time of an application for a study permit can vary from one Canadian visa office to another and depends on whether or not you need to undergo a medical examination.

  • Application for Enrolment 
  • Birth certificate 
  • Valid passport 
  • Copy of diplomas indicating the highest level of education attained. (Diploma/degree must be translated in English by a certified body)  
  • If the above requirement is not met, students must complete the Wonderlic Basic Skills assessment in English and Math.  (We will need the name, title and contacts of an educator or official who will monitor you during these tests. We will then send them a copy of each exam for you to complete, which they should then send back to us.) 

Obtaining the necessary authorizations

International students who wish to study at Trebas Institute must meet the requirements of the government of Ontario and Canada. These requirements include the following:

  • A valid passport or travel document
  • The letter of introduction the visa office sent you when they approved your study permit. This letter has your permit reference number, which is used to issue your study permit
  • A copy of a valid letter of acceptance from the institute
  • Proof that you have enough money to support yourself during your stay in Canada
  • Letters of reference or any other documents the visa office told you to bring with you and
  • Either a valid Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) or visitor visa.

Consider the processing time

It’s important to have all the necessary documents at-hand prior to your departure to Canada. As the processing time can be lengthy, you are urged to apply for your Canadian immigration documents as soon as you receive your acceptance letter. Your application can be made at the nearest Canadian embassy, consulate or high commission. The processing time for your application can vary by months depending on the country you are applying from. It is imperative that you have the study permit before starting your studies.

Arrival in Canada

  • Contact your admissions advisor as soon as possible
  • Register for an Orientation Session
  • Present your valid passport and student permit to your admissions advisor
  • Request your Student ID Card
