Foreign Students:
Obtaining the necessary authorizations to study in Québec
You must first get an admission letter from Trebas by internet by clicking here or by calling an admission advisor at (514) 845-4141.
Once you have received your letter of admission, you need to obtain:
- a CAQ, issued by the Gouvernement du Québec (Government of Québec)
- a study permit, issued by the Government of Canada.
If you received the letter of admission, we recommend that you send in your application for a Québec Acceptance Certificate for studies as soon as possible. Make sure that your file contains all the required documents. An incomplete file cannot be finalized and will delay the processing time.
3 important steps
As soon as you receive your letter of admission, you should take the following three steps:
- Making sure you are familiar with the requirements for staying in Québec as a foreign student.
- Applying for an Acceptance Certificate for studies.
- Applying for a study permit.
Excluding postal delays, it generally takes four weeks to process an application for a CAQ, provided your file is complete (including all duly completed forms and required supporting documents).
The time required for processing an application for a study permit may vary from one Canadian visa office to another. It may also depend on whether or not you need to undergo a medical examination. Refer to the website www.cic.gc.ca
