EVM Grad Success:

I’ve been in the event business for over twenty years. I came to Trebas to learn things that only Trebas could teach me, from producing a large scale production in theatre to small scale events and trade shows. The teachers were great and always there for you academically and outside of school. I had a great experience and everything I learned at Trebas I have utilized in the real and fast paced world of event planning.”

On February 7, 2012, MSN Entertainment News Release saluted our Audio Engineering graduate, Alex Zubahir, of the band Nephelium:

Nephelium, Coils Of Entropy: Although they hail from Toronto, Nephelium leaders Alex Zubahir (guitar, vocals) and Alan Madhavan (drums) originally met in their native Dubai before emigrating to Canada, and what makes this band so interesting, beside their skill at creating punishing, no-frills death metal, is the way they subtly incorporate Middle Eastern melodies into the compositions. The overall effect on this full-length debut is that of a less-contrived version of Nile, and if they keep improving, Nephelium just might end up being Canada’s and Dubai’s answer to those death metal masters.

Congratulations on this success, Alex!

More Student Success:

Already 31 years since I graduated from Trebas Institute. I was among the first to take the program which was given then in front of the Cinéma Impérial on Bleury Street. The recording studio was Studios Markko and the sessions would start on Saturday. I am still working at the National Film Board as Sound Technician since 1985. I have experienced the evolution from the 16mm to 35 mm and the analogue sound to digital sound, and there is not over yet. Wow, I remember my studies well. One must persevere in life, and do what one wants the most. Internet was not even existing in 1979. But the quality of teaching was fantastic at the time.

A Letter from a Trebas Graduate:

Hi Lynn,

First of all, I want to thank you, Jeff Wright, and Trebas management for all the efforts made in trying to find adds/jobs for students. At first, Lynn helped me get a live sound gig at a church in Markham area every other Sunday. I also got hired at "Gametronics" doing sound design and engineering as a full-time Monday to Friday job. This now keeps me busy 6 days a week as a paid engineer in both jobs.

I couldn't feel happier than I do at this moment. I want to thank Lynn and Trebas for taking a strong initiative in making sure their students have opportunities; and most importantly, the support in this industry that we all need, mostly now do to the global "Recession." Trebas has been a great experience to me and to 7 other students who have gathered around 1 week ago to catch up, where 6 out of 7 are already working in the industry.

I also want to take the opportunity to say that Lynn has gone an extra mile to contact us and catch up with our job applications. Two other students who I have projects with have been really satisfied with the jobs Lynn helped them obtain.

Thankfully,
Mario Duke
