Chris Wares is an Educator, Professional Grant Writer and Business Development Consultant. He has extensive experience in the music industry, having worked with some of Canada’s largest independent record labels, publishing companies and management companies. Some of his roles have included Marketing Director for a major-distributed independent record label, Artist Manager, Copyright Administrator, Metadata and Distribution Specialist - the list goes on.
Through his consulting and grant-writing work, Chris has successfully obtained grants in the tens of thousands of dollars for professional artists and in the hundreds of thousands for businesses (primarily labels and publishers).
Chris Wares holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Concordia University), a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Music Business (Southern New Hampshire University and Berklee College of Music), as well as an Attestation of College Studies (Trebas Institute). Upon completing the program at Trebas, Chris was awarded Musicounts’ Fred Sherratt Award in recognition of his ‘Outstanding Achievement in Music and Recording Arts and Sciences’.
Chris is currently the Program Coordinator at Trebas Institute’s Montreal campus, where he works with the Director of Studies and instructors to develop and update the curriculum, create and approve course syllabi, create course materials, as well as other administrative duties. He also teaches several business-related courses in various programs.
