Trebas holds training sessions for peer mentors

On February 16, Trebas Institute Toronto held a training session for its current student peer mentors at our downtown campus location. The event took place from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the AVID Room.

The main goal of the event was to help give the peer mentors the tools they need to succeed in their roles when assisting fellow students with their studies. At the midway point of the semester, students who require additional support will be paired with peer mentors who will provide them with the guidance they need to succeed.

The nine Trebas students who were selected because of their excellent academic standing and leadership skills participated in the informative workshop to further develop their mentoring ability. Topics related to mentorship, such as study habits and time management, were discussed. Mentors also learned about ways to improve their effectiveness in helping students and were provided with key resources that will aid them in their mentoring journey.

Additionally, peer mentors also learned about effective ways to help run workshops, open houses, student orientations and more.

Campus director Mark Ruddy said, “Trebas appreciates the support and dedication our peer mentors have provided to their fellow students, and we cannot wait to see how they continue to inspire growth in our community.”
