Entertainment Management Administration Instructor

Rick Levine, founder of ICEBOX Music, is a long time music industry expert, entrepreneur, singer/songwriter, publisher, guitarist and recording artist. Rick’s career in music started on the Jersey Shore in the mid-eighties as the Promotions Director and on air personality for WHTG AM/FM, broadcasting to the New York City market. Rick then moved to Toronto in the early 1990s.

Rick holds a place as one of the pioneer broadcasters on Canada’s first Internet radio station, Virtually Canadian, creating the internet music and gabfest, “Ricko Talks to the World,” inspired by Marshall McLuhan.

He is also one of the founders of the acoustic guitar duo, Fridge Magnets, performing over 300 times over 12 years including at the Canadian Film Centre, the McMichael Gallery in Kleinburg and Breakfast Television.

Levine established ICEBOX Music in 2000 to manage Fridge Magnets’ business affairs, taking on the roles of music producer, publicist promotions, public relations, and marketing. He negotiated exclusive CD distribution rights with GTA Chapters & Indigo book stores.

ICEBOX Music began its publishing services in 2005, representing the 50,000 piece catalog of Casablanca Media. Rick also developed, promoted and marketed an exclusive collection of 60 Canadian indie artists for worldwide music licensing in all forms of media, collaborating with music supervisors, film and TV producers on three continents for music placement.

In 2008, ICEBOX Music added a special events production division to provide Audio/Visual and event management services to live events. In 2010, Rick took all that he had learned in the music industry and created a music business seminar to enable musicians to take control of their own careers.

Since 2012, Rick has been an educator at The Trebas Institute, instilling music business literacy in emerging Canadian indie artists. In 2018, Rick was awarded, out of over 600 colleges, the coveted Career Colleges Ontario Award For Excellence in Teaching.

Rick also hosted and produced the global podcast “Inside The ICEBOX,” originating on CIWS, 102.9 FM in Stouffville, Ontario from 2012 to 2017, showcasing interviews and music with emerging Canadian artists. Currently, Rick is providing music business administration services for musicians wanting to learn business principles to better manage their careers.
