Trebas Institute Quebec Inc. is proud to announce that “He’s Not That Special”, an emotionally charged drama by alumna Nickiesha Flemmings, has been officially selected for the 2024 Festival du Nouveau Cinéma in Montreal. This project, which also earned the award for Best Student Film at the 2024 Jamaica International Film Fest, explores a tense discussion among classmates that takes an unexpected and dramatic turn.
Filmed on the Trebas Institute Quebec Inc. campus, “He’s Not That Special” was developed by Flemmings under the mentorship of experienced instructor and film professional Ioannis Koutroubis. Through her work, Flemmings wanted to "shed light on the effects of trauma and how it can impact social relationships”, while also highlighting how unresolved internal issues can influence interpersonal interactions.
The widespread recognition of “He’s Not That Special” not only showcases Flemmings’ filmmaking skills but also highlights the exceptional support provided by the dedicated faculty and staff at Trebas Institute Quebec Inc., underscoring the college’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of filmmakers.
He’s Not That Special will be screened on October 14, 2024, at the Cinémathèque Québécoise, located at 335 Boul. de Maisonneuve E in Montreal. The event will also feature a presentation and Q&A session.
