National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
Day of Significance
The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, observed on September 30 in Canada, is a day dedicated to honoring the lost children and survivors of residential schools, as well as acknowledging the ongoing impact of these institutions on Indigenous communities.
Established in 2021, the day encourages all Canadians to reflect on the history of residential schools, engage with Indigenous cultures, and commit to the process of reconciliation. Various events, educational activities, and community gatherings take place across the country to promote awareness and understanding of Indigenous issues. Trebas staff will honor this important day by dedicating time to discuss its significance, wearing orange items, and raising awareness about the impact of residential schools.
Through these actions, they aim to foster understanding and solidarity with Indigenous communities while promoting meaningful conversations around reconciliation.
