Program Overview
During your first term, you will focus on the following: principles of audio theory and how sound reacts through the signal path; the fundamentals of music theory and how to improve critical listening; MIDI language as it is used for creating and arranging music (along with learning how to use the related software programs); as well as studio recording techniques in a professional studio with real musicians.

The second term will enable you to consider the foundations of sound design using various techniques such as differential synthesis and digital sampling; sound design techniques for DJ and live performance applications; audio post-production techniques to mix audio tracks, sound effects, music and dialogue in timed synchronization with video. You’ll also focus on the advanced functionalities of Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) such as Pro Tools.

Your final semester will focus on advanced techniques to design custom sounds using differential, additive, spectral, granular synthesis and digital sampling; sound design for video games by creating complex interactive mechanisms that respond to the changes within the game and adapt to the player's choices; the structure of the audio industry and how to effectively advance your career within it; as well as how to produce music using cutting-edge, industry standard music production software programs.
